Leilani was my best friend for 15.5 years and she taught me more than I can say… this tribute to my special four footed friend here is just some of those lessons.
Leilani’s heart is forever bonded to mine and while her physical presence has left, her beautiful, soft and sweet, powerful energy/ presence lives on in ways that we may never fully comprehend.
Leilani has a message for your heart too: Leilani’s Legacy is for you. :)
I hope that this may be a place for fellow animal lovers to visit, especially as your precious animals reach their later years, to find inspiration, encouragement and strength in honouring the beautiful relationship you share with your own special animal friends.

Finally, I would like to recommend this book and wonderful resource to you no matter the age of your animals. I was excited and honoured to be interviewed by David Michie (author of the Dalai Lama’s Cat series) on Animal Reiki (sharing meditation with animals); and to contribute just a few of the many beautiful stories contained within the page of his informative & enlightening NEW book (Released July 2017).
Here is the description from the back of the book:
The bonds we share with our pets go beyond words and are often deeper than many of our human relationships. What is the nature of these close connections? And what if our influence on pets, both in life and especially through sickness and death, is far more powerful than we ever conceived?
David Michie draws on ancient Buddhist wisdom, supported by contemporary science, to provide fascinating insights into animal consciousness. He proposes that the pets with whom we share our lives are not there by accident. Whether your animal companion has fur, feathers or fins, he offers a treasury of practical tools to enhance your relationship with them in everyday life, as well as during times of challenge.
Written with humour and compassion, and including extraordinary true stories from around the world, Buddhism for Pet Lovers reveals how our animal companions may indeed be among our most precious partners. For in helping them, our own lives are incomparably enriched too.
